Cyprus, Paphos - Orpheus playing the lyre; Detail from the mosaic of Orpheus that was found in the House of Orpheus - a Roman villa dating from the 3rd century AD. Orpheus is wearing a Phrygian cap and an oriental dress. In his right hand he holds a plectrum. The inscription in capital Greek is probably the name of the house owner (3rd century AD).
