Greece, Athens - National Archaeological Museum - Pedestal for a statue. Marble and poros. Found at the Vourva tumulus in Attica. The pedestal consists of three poros steps on top of which rested the marble base of a kore, of which fragments of the feet have been preserved. The statue stood on the grave of a maiden and was made by Phaidimos, one of the great Athenian sculptors of the Archaic period, as is indicated by the inscription carved on the front face of the base. (ca. 550 BC)
