Excavations have shown that the history of Salamis goes back to the 11th century BC. The necropolis which yielded the Royal Tombs belongs to the 8th century. The highlights of the site are the gymnasium and baths, the theater, the Roman villa, the Kampanopetra Basilica and the Ayios Epiphanios Basilica.
