Minturnae (144 pictures, 6 videos)

Minturnae was founded in 296 BC as colonia maritima on the right bank of the river Liris. By the 3rd century BC the city spread further with new boundary walls in a square format, fortified by towers. The remains seen today are from the reign of Hadrian (117-138 AD), when the market and public baths were built, the theater was amplified and the roads were adorned with fountains and nymphaeums thanks to the construction of the aqueduct.
