Orchomenos (29 pictures, 2 videos)
The ancient city extends over the slopes of a low hill in the eastern foothills of Mount Akontion. Orchomenos was the largest city in Mycenaean Boeotia and was the rival of Thebes between the 8th and 4th centuries BC. A Greek theater in good condition was discovered here, as well as a tholos tomb from the 14th-13th centuries BC. Inside the tholos were found a statue base and a base of an altar, dating from the 3rd century BC.
