Ancient City (Pythagoreion) (85 pictures, 1 videos)

Of the Ancient City, partially covered by the modern Pythagorio, one can see the remains of the Hellenistic walls (310-290 BC). They had circular towers and parapet walkways that have in part been preserved. A short distance above the villa are the ruins of the Theater of Samos from the 4th century BC. A Roman Temple of Aphrodite and a bathhouse were also found here. A basilica was erected on the site of the bathhouse in the 5th century AD.
