Nemea - Temple of Zeus (16 pictures)

The splendid Doric peripteral temple hexastyle dedicated to Zeus is the visual focus of the complex. Despite its predominantly Doric layout, the temple features Ionic and Corinthian columns in the two overlapping rows of columns inside the cella. Three of the columns of the hexastyle, bearing a part of the pediment, still stand today on the massive stylobate (330-300 BC). A long altar to the east was used for sacrifices.
