Thera (196 pictures, 10 videos)
The site of ancient Thera lies near Kamari on the volcanic crest towards the east coast of the island. The city was founded in the 10th century BC. The remains now visible, however, all date from the golden age of the city when it was used as a Ptolemaic naval base in the southern Aegean (3rd century BC). Finds include the cult complex dedicated to Concordia, the Dioscures (Castor and Pollux), Zeus, Apollo and Poseidon.
