The site is located on the 50th km of Mersin-Silifke highway within the boundaries of Kumkuyu municipality. The city was founded in the Late Hellenistic Age (2nd-1st century BC) and enjoyed natural fortifications. It was inhabited until the late 9th century AD. Finds in the site include a theater, an agora, a vast thermal bath complex, a necropolis and a Byzantine basilica (5th-6th centuries AD).
