Joined to the sea in ancient times by the Kestros River - navigable at the time - Perge is one of the most important and spectacular coastal towns. Many archaeological findings were discovered here, including three city gates, a 2nd century BC theater, a 2nd century BC nymphaeum, a monument for Artemis and Apollo, Roman baths, a colonnaded avenue, a 2nd century AD stadium and a 4th century AD agora.
