The old village of Phaselis, now Tekirova, has always been associated with the sea. Founded by Rhodes at the beginning of the 6th century BC, it soon became an important port city. Strabo mentions three harbors: in the north, in the northeast and in the south. The main avenue connects the military harbor with the southern harbor. In the site are a theater (2nd century), a bath-gymnasium complex (3rd century), Hadrian's gate and agora and an aqueduct.
