Bar'am (40 pictures)
Three km north of Hiram Junction lived a Jewish community during the period of the Mishna and the Talmud. Traces of two synagogues were found here. The bigger synagogue is well preserved. Of the smaller synagogue nothing but foundations remained. Excavations indicate that the buildings were built at the end of the 4th century or the beginning of the 5th century. On top of the hill, south of the Great synagogue, there is a Maronite church, still active on holidays.
