Beer Sheva (Tel) (129 pictures)
Vestiges of the ancient settlements in Tel Beer Sheva (Beer Sheba) include pottery from the Chalcolithic period (4th millennium BC). The settlement renewed on the Tel during the beginning of the Iron Age (the Israelite period, 1200-586 BC). A temple was erected during the Hellenistic period (3rd-2nd centuries BC), and its base can still be seen. The last building to be erected here was rhombus-shaped, built during the Roman period (2nd-3rd centuries AD), and renovated during the early Arab period (7th-8th centuries). The biblical tel was declared a World Heritage site by UNESCO in 2005.
