This is one of the earliest and best preserved water supply systems found in Israel, which includes the origin of the spring, an aqueduct and a pool. It was constructed next to a Herodian fortified compound (37-4 BC). The pool supplied water for agricultural uses and also served as a swimming pool. The highlight of the magnificent Herodian compound is the private bathhouse, located east of the swimming pool. Of the large pigeonry (columbarium) only the round base remained.
