Hazor (Tel) (159 pictures, 7 videos)

Tel Hazor is located in the eastern Upper Galilee, on the ancient route from the Land of Israel to Babylon, via Syria. Hazor was the largest and most important city in the land of Canaan. The Tel comprises the upper city (acropolis) and the lower city (the "fortified enclosure"). Among the finds are a Canaanite temple (15th-14th centuries BC), a Canaanite palace (14th-13th centuries BC), and an Israelite water system (9th century BC). The biblical tel of Hazor was declared a World Heritage site by UNESCO in 2005.
