Paphos (619 pictures, 19 videos)
Paphos was declared a World Heritage site by UNESCO in 1980. The cemeteries of Paphos are just outside the walls of the city. The northernmost part of this incredibly large necropolis constitutes what is known as the "Tombs of the Kings". The cemetery was continuously used during the Hellenistic and Roman Periods (3rd century BC - 3rd century AD) and as a place of refuge by the early Christians during persecution. The site also features several houses (5th-2nd centuries BC), the Chrisopolitissa Church (4th century) and a castle from 1,200 AD.
