Herodium (197 pictures)

Herodium is a fortress-palace built by the King of Judea, Herod the Great (74 - 4 BC). The fortress is located on hill shaped like a truncated cone 12 km south of Jerusalem. On May 8, 2007, Prof. Ehud Netzer of the Hebrew University announced that he has identified the tomb of King Herod in the fortress.
