Capua (77 pictures, 1 videos)
The city of Capua is situated in the province of Caserta, southern Italy. Ancient Capua was founded in c. 600 BC, probably by the Etruscans. Traces of this celebrated past are the Roman amphitheater, baths and theater, early tombs and traces of two 6th century BC temples, including a Temple of Mithra. The scarce Etruscan remains (7th-5th centuries BC) include a furnace and grave goods. The Samnite period (5th-4th centuries BC) is represented by the remains of a sanctuary.
