Cumae (161 pictures, 4 videos)

Cuma was probably founded by the Chalcidians of Euboea in the 8th century BC in an area distinguished by particularly fertile terrain. Among the finds in the site are the Temple of Apollo and Jupiter, which probably housed an oracle, and the caves of Sibyl. The earliest references to an "Altar of the Sibel" are to be found in a text of the 4th-3rd centuries BC.
