Ostia Antica - Miscellaneous (658 pictures)

Ostia was founded by the fourth Roman king, Ancus Macrius, around 620 BC. The necropolis is from the 1st century BC. This theater is one of the oldest exiting brick theaters. It was built in the reign of Augustus (31 BC – 14 AD) and was repaired and enlarged under Commodus at the end of the 2nd century AD. Other finds are the Baths of Mithrace, the Baths of Neptune, the capitolium, the Temple of Hercules and several houses.
