Morgantina (288 pictures, 10 videos)

Morgantina was probably founded by Chalcidian settlers in the 6th century BC. Excavations revealed the agora, which included the macellum, a Roman shopping center, the bouleuterion, the gymnasium, the theater, the remains of rich houses with mosaic decorations, vestiges of a sanctuary dedicated to the cult of the gods of the underworld, a granary and a Sanctuary of Demeter and Kore. On the nearby hill, ruins of the ancient acropolis and of a settlement have been found.
