The site was probably settled by Nuragic people. Some typical Nuragic T-shaped hewns had been re-used in the foundations of the so-called Temple of Tanit and some earthenware fragments of the same cultural period have been found. Another find is a Nuragic well near the southeast corner of the baths by the sea.
