Abdera (126 pictures, 8 videos)

Abdera is a colony of the Ionic Klazomenai (654 BC), which was re-founded by Teos in 543 BC. The excavations are along the sea front, south of the modern village of Avdira. Highlights include the remains of the turreted West Gate (4th century BC), the grid plan road network that has been excavated in several places, and the foundations of Hellenistic and Roman houses.
