Brauron is located in eastern Attica, approximately 38 km from Athens. The surviving structures mostly date from the last quarter of the 5th century BC. Inside the Sanctuary of Artemis one can still see five pylons and the plane of the bridge built across the Erassinos River around 450 BC. The road crossing the bridge led to the sacred enclosure. The small temple of Artemis is distyle in antis with a cella featuring four columns and an adyton.
