Segesta (209 pictures, 3 videos)
Segesta is an abandoned ancient city located in the province of Trapani, about 74km southwest of Palermo. The Doric temple, dating from the 5th century BC, rises outside the urban area. The theater, partly built into the hillside, dates from the 4th to 3rd centuries BC. In Contrada Mango the remains of an Elymian sanctuary of the 6th to 5th centuries BC have been found. Some archaeological material has also been revealed here (pottery, inscriptions and graffiti).
