Among the archaeological finds that have come to light recently of particular importance is the Trophy which the Athenians set up on the spot where they defeated the Persians. The Trophy, as restored today, is in the form of a smooth column shaft, 10 m high, with Ionic capital, which was surmounted by a statue of Nike, of which only one small fragment survives.
