Nea Pleuron (47 pictures)
The city is on the lower western slopes of the Arakynthos. It was built in 230 BC and has spectacular trapezoidal walls, with seven gates and at least 30 towers served by stairways. The portico and gymnasium close to the wide agora are worthy of note, together with a large communal cistern to the west. The residential district lies to the south and the sacred area to the north of the agora. The city also had a theater.
