Gournia (Crete) (84 pictures)

Gournia is the best preserved Minoan town in Crete. It is a rare example of a Minoan town, which grew up around a small palace. The mini palace marks its center, surrounded by a labyrinth of narrow, stepped streets and one-room dwellings. The site was inhabited as early as the 3rd millennium BC, though what remains dates from the second palace period, around 1700 BC.
