The site is laid out on three terraces: The lowest terrace was bounded by a stoa on three sides. To the east was a 3rd century AD complex of Roman baths; on the second terrace are the remains of a large 4th century BC altar, the earliest structure in the Asklepieion, next to the Temple of Asklepieion from the 3rd century BC. On the third terrace stands the large Temple of Asklepieion, from the 2nd century BC.
