Alexandria Troas was a major sea port in northwest Asia Minor and the port to cross over to Neapolis in Macedonia for the land route to Rome. It was founded by Antigonos, one of the commanders of Alexander the Great in 310 BC. Archaeological excavations revealed the theater, palace, temple, agora, baths, necropolis, the harbor and the city wall.
