Aspendos (154 pictures, 4 videos)
Aspendos, the present-day Belkiz, was situated on the banks of the River Eurymedon, now known as the Kopru Cay. It is commonly believed that Aspendos was founded by colonists from Argos, probably in the beginning of the 5th century BC. The town is built against two hills: on the "Great Hill" stood the acropolis, with the agora, basilica, nymphaeum and bouleuterion. Of all these buildings only ruins remain. Aspendos' 2nd century theater is the best preserved Roman theater in Turkey.
