Yeni Kale ('New Castle') is located next to Kocahisar Village (old Kahta) at Damlacik Township. The castle was built in the Late Hittite time in the 11th century BC. The fortress was substantially restored by the Romans and then by the Mamluks. Within the castle there are ruins of shops, a mosque, a public bath, aqueducts, water tanks and a jail. It is surrounded by huge walls and it has got only one entrance door.
