Bernice (74 pictures)

Mt. Bernice, named during the 1st century AD after King Agrippa's sister, was a raised section of the city of Tiberias that was included inside the walls the Jewish community raised against Christian penetration. However, during the 5th century, with the Crusader invasions, the Jewish hold over the city weakened, leaving an opening for growing Christian influence. Today the ruins of an ancient Christian church built on Mt. Bernice stand as living proof of the Christian presence in the city.
