Nimrod Fortress is one of the greatest, most impressive castles which have been preserved since the Medieval times of the Middle East. It is located on the Hermon hillside. The site features an impressive gate bearing an inscription in Arabic that dates from 1230, the year the construction of the fortress was completed by the Ayyubid Muslims. Another monumental inscription found here, the largest of Mamluk times (1275), praises Sultan Bibberas.
